About the manufacturer:
VAL-SAINT-LAMBERT
Cristallerie Val Saint Lambert, founded in 1826 in the former Val-Saint-Lambert monastery in Seraing (Belgium), is one of the most renowned glass manufacturers in Europe. It remains a family business today. It stands for the finest crystal craftsmanship using both classic and modern cutting techniques. From the interwar period onward, the company became a trendsetter in the Art Deco and later modern applied arts.
Well-known designers included Léon Ledru (1855–1926), Victor Horta, Henry van de Velde, Joseph Simon (1874–1960), and Charles Graffart (1893–1967).
Graffart worked for the company from 1942 to 1958 and is considered one of Val Saint Lambert's most influential artistic directors. He shaped the modern face of the manufactory. His designs—such as the "Muscadet" model—combine functional form with masterful cutting. Graffart's works are now considered iconic of post-war Belgian glass art.
