About the artist Günter Wilhelm Grass:
Günter Wilhelm Grass (born Graß) (1927 Danzig-Langfuhr - 2015 Lübeck) was one of the most important German-speaking writers of the 20th century and a recipient of the Nobel Prize for Literature. Grass was a member of Group 47 from 1957 and became an internationally respected author of post-war German literature with his debut novel "The Tin Drum" published in 1959.
Grass was also a versatile graphic artist, draftsman, and sculptor. This dual artistic talent is reflected in his Literati plate: characteristic drawings, handwritten notes, and poetic allusions were transferred to the Rosenthal porcelain plate, giving the plate its unmistakable charisma.
