Rosenthal Artist Plate, Literati Plate - Günter Grass, 1974

Rosenthal studio-line - limited edition 4542/5000/1, signed Günter Grass, inscribed: "Der Fortschritt ist eine Schnecke". (Translation: Progress is a snail).

With its striking visual and linguistic language, the Günter Grass Literati Plate embodies the connection between word and image, between literature and art. For art and literature lovers alike, this plate is a valuable testament to Günter Grass's artistic versatility and a significant piece in the Rosenthal Literati Plate Edition.

About the artist Günter Wilhelm Grass:

Günter Wilhelm Grass (born Graß) (1927 Danzig-Langfuhr - 2015 Lübeck) was one of the most important German-speaking writers of the 20th century and a recipient of the Nobel Prize for Literature. Grass was a member of Group 47 from 1957 and became an internationally respected author of post-war German literature with his debut novel "The Tin Drum" published in 1959.

Grass was also a versatile graphic artist, draftsman, and sculptor. This dual artistic talent is reflected in his Literati plate: characteristic drawings, handwritten notes, and poetic allusions were transferred to the Rosenthal porcelain plate, giving the plate its unmistakable charisma.
