Muller Frères Table Lamps of Wrought Iron & Satin Glass, France, circa 1930
This original pair of table lamps by Muller Frères embodies the French Art Deco movement at its finest, demonstrating the harmonious blend of artistic craftsmanship and elegant design from the late 1920s to early 1930s.
Stylistic Elements:
The delicate wrought iron frames feature decorative scrolls, while the satin-finished, conical glass shades with vertical relief create a soft, diffused light. The interplay of robust wrought iron and delicate glass underscores the manufacturer's signature style.
Signature: Each lamp is signed "Muller Frères – Lunéville" on the glass rim, confirming its authenticity and historical value.
In 1895, Henri Muller, together with his brothers Désiré, Eugène, and Victor, founded a glass decoration workshop in Lunéville, inspired by the "École de Nancy." During the 1920s and 1930s, the manufactory specialized in lamps and lighting in the Art Deco style. Production continued until 1936. With their innovative glassworks and lighting designs, Muller Frères—alongside Daum and Schneider—ranked among the leading exponents of French glass art. Their designs remain highly prized collector's items to this day.
