About the manufacturer Saglier Frères & Cie

Victor Saglier (1809–1894) established the family of Parisian silversmiths in the 1890s at 12, rue d'Enghien in Paris; his brothers, Eugène and André Saglier, continued the firm under the name Saglier Frères.

The workshop supplied renowned Parisian establishments. Characteristic features of Saglier’s work include high-quality silver plating, floral and geometric motifs, and a harmonious balance between ornamentation and function.

The jardinière on a mirrored tray offered by ART FLAGEY is a beautiful example of the elegant French dining culture of the era of Art Deco and serves as a testament to the artistic quality of Saglier’s silversmithing.

Of particular interest to collectors is the goldsmiths' signature, which features a cigar-shaped cartouche enclosing a sailboat positioned between the letters V and S.

The jardinière bears the hallmarks S.F. (for Saglier Frères) and V.S. (for Victor Saglier)—confirming its provenance from the workshop—as well as the stamped number 25.

Furthermore, the excellent, original condition of both the silver plating and the mirror is especially noteworthy.
