About the manufacturer Ezan - Jean Gauthier

Jean Gauthier – Ezanville (Ezan) – France

Jean Gauthier was one of the most prominent French manufacturers of decorative glass lighting during the Art Deco era.

Ezan lamps embody both the innovative spirit and the exceptional craftsmanship characteristic of French glass production during that period; consequently, they are rightly counted among the most sought-after objects of French Art Deco.

Artistic Design:

In the 1930s, Jean Gauthier began producing glass lamps made of opalescent molded glass in the Modernist style—pieces prized for their extraordinary light refraction and their unique interplay of colors, shifting between white, blue, and violet.

A hallmark of the Ezan style is the fusion of geometric rigor with organic, nature-inspired elements.

Available at ART FLAGEY:

The lamps offered by Art Flagey are designed in the quintessential Ezan style: the iridescent glass of the shades—shimmering between white and blue—is sculpted into beautiful stalactite forms. The lamp bases, crafted from silvered bronze, feature intricate floral and geometric ornamentation.

The lamps bear the signature "EZAN France", a mark referencing the glassworks in Ezanville, located north of Paris, which gave rise to the artistic pseudonym "Ezan."
