Oil-painting of a seated female nude by the Belgian painter Jean Gouweloos.

Jean Léon Henri Gouweloos

Jean Gouweloos (7 December 1868 - Brussels - 5 May 1943) was a painter, draftsman and lithographer.

He began his education in the workshop of painter Charles Albert and continued at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels under Jean Portaels. 

Gouweloos was a member of the “Voorwaarts” in 1891 and of the avant-garde group “Le Sillon” in 1895. From 1887, he exhibited regularly at the salons of Brussels, Namur, Ostend, as well as in Paris, Düsseldorf, Berlin, Munich (1900 - 1913).
