About Jean Léon Henri Gouweloos (1868 - Brussels - 1943)
Jean Gouweloos was a Belgian painter of the late Impressionist period, trained by Charles Albert and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels.
He was a member of the groups "Voorwaarts" (1891) and "Le Sillon" (1895) and exhibited regularly in Brussels, Namur, Ostend, as well as in Paris, Düsseldorf, Berlin, and Munich.
Gouweloos is known for his studio and interior scenes featuring portraits of women and nudes. His works are characterized by soft colors and a sensitive depiction of the female body.
His paintings are featured in international art auctions and are part of museum collections in Antwerp, Kortrijk, Liège, and Mons.
