About the artist: Ferdinand Pire (*1943 Brussels)
Ferdinand Pire comes from a family of artists. He received his training from his father, the painter Marcel Pire, as well as at the Art Academy in Brussels. Since the 1980s, Pire has dedicated himself to reverse glass painting, strongly influenced by the Belgian painter Floris Jespers.
Through a synthesis of cubist elements and symbolic imagery, the artist creates timeless characters. His flawless églomisé technique—painting on the reverse side of the glass combined with metallic accents—results in images of exceptional luminosity and depth.
The artist has garnered worldwide recognition for his technique, and his work is represented in public collections in Belgium. In 2008, Pire was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of Leopold II.
He lives and works in Málaga and Brussels.
