Jean Gouweloos: Painter of figures, landscapes, seascapes, but also draftsman and lithographer. He began his education in the workshop of painter-decorator Charles Albert and then at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels under Jean Portaels (1887/1890, 1893/1894). Gouweloos was a member of the “Voorwaarts” in 1891 and of the avant-garde group “Le Sillon” in 1895. From 1887, he exhibited regularly at the salons of Brussels, Namur, Ostend, as well as in Paris, Düsseldorf, Berlin, Munich (between 1900 - 1913).
