Fernand Toussaint (1873-1956), study with Jean-François Portaels and at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts, studies in Paris with the well-known Belgian portraitist Alfred Stevens, specialized in painting female portraits, still lifes and cityscapes in impressionist and post-impressionist styles. He became particularly famous for his beautiful floral still lifes, coastal views and seascapes, strongly influenced by painters of his time such as Constant Permeke and Adrien le Mayeur de Merprès.
