Susanne Kessler (* 1955)
Susanne Kessler is a German-Italian painter, draftswoman, and installation artist living in Berlin and Rome. She studied painting and graphic design at the Berlin University of the Arts (1975-1982).
Her works—now often large-scale installations—reflect biological, cartographic, and philosophical themes.
Guest professorships and exhibitions in Europe, the USA, India, and Africa demonstrate Kessler's internationally acclaimed work. She was awarded the Culture Prize of the Von der Heydt Museum in Wuppertal in 2022 and the Paul Strekker Prize of the City of Mainz in 1992.
