Louis Thévenet worked as a long voyage sailor between 1893 and 1897 and at various odd jobs before turning to painting following the advice of the painter Oleffe. He lived in Nieuwport (1897-1905) and Brussels (1905-1914) before giving up his somewhat busy social life and settling in the village of Hal in 1914....
