About the artist:

Max Bill first trained as a silversmith at the Zurich School of Applied Arts and then attended the Bauhaus in Dessau. In Zurich he worked as a painter, graphic artist, architect, designer and art theorist. In Max Bill's diverse oeuvre, painting dominates, which, from around 1931, takes on its actual character with its consistent geometric-constructive abstraction. In 1944 he organized the first international exhibition of "Concrete Art" in the Kunsthalle Basel. He is considered a main representative and important theorist of "concrete art".
