Villeroy & Boch, ceramics and porcelain factory, Mettlach/Germany
Art Nouveau flower pot from 1910 with the Mercury mark, which is Villeroy & Boch's most important trademark alongside the tower mark.
It shows the winged head of Mercury with two rods surrounded by snakes above the Villeroy & Boch banner. The stamp was registered by Villeroy & Boch in 1876 as a Mercury stamp after a trademark protection law came into force in Germany on May 1, 1875.
